A total of eight barrels of hand-made wine, originating from the 2 Ha of environmentally friendly vineyards surrounding the Amares winery. The nose hints at dark-skinned berries, a promise of mint and other herbal aromas. The wine has a broad palate with an attractive mouth feel from ripe grapes backed by mature tannins and a dry cedar finish.
A total of eight barrels of hand-made wine, open fermented in stainless-steel bins, originating from select vineyards in the Banhoek and Rustenberg valleys. Turkish Delight, clove and juniper on the nose followed by fresh red stone fruits with strong white pepper and light spice to finish. The careful use of French oak creates gamey, smoked meat hints. A bold but elegant slow-food wine.
This wine is produced from the fruit of Argentina's signature grape, Malbec, with a smaller percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Tannat. Deep red, with purple tinges, this wine offers red fruit aromas of cherries and raspberries, with a subtle hint of vanilla.
Bodega Flechas de Los Andes is a result of the partnership between Baron Benjamin de Rothchild and Mr. Laurent Dassault, on a unique terroir situated at the foot of the Andes cordillera, to the south of Mendoza. The Malbec grape variety reigns in this alluvial terroir of the Andes................really good stuff
A malbec from Vistaflores (Uco Valley), Tunuyan Departament, Mendoza. It reaches out all the black fruits typical of vistaflores with some sourness and boysenberries and red cherries too. Only soft almost sweet chocolate close by. Good balance and nicely attractive.................really good stuff
Beaumont wines was the first winery in South Africa to bottle a Mourvèdre - this varietal originated in Spain and traditionally planted in France to enhance classic Shiraz blends. Mourvèdre's dark, thick-skinned berries result in powerful spicy and sometimes gamey aromas in their youth. This unique wine was made from a small parcel of Mourvèdre with a low crop yield of 4 tons/ha. Grapes were harvested at full ripeness, cold soaked, fermented in concrete tanks and allowed a post maceration of 3 weeks, where after it was pressed directly into 100% French oak 400L barrels.
Forget about your Pinotage prejudice, we searched high and low to find an elegant Pinotage and we were eventually rewarded with this gem from Sebastian Beaumont in Bot River. The 2013 vintage retains balance and finesse with its red berry, plum and cherry flavours. Fine tannins lend a firm and meaty structure to the mouth-watering fruit supported by a touch of vanilla.
